research update
this week i have been writing code for the THS Application core. the documentation for the core is at http://noah.cx/research/drawApp.html. writing code seems so much easier than the planning part or the communicating part. it feels natural, and useful.
i am starting to help think about the file storage for SMPL. aside from replacing the mysql back-end with Postgresql (which seems like a good thing to do at some point) we had talked about completely re-architecting the file storage technique. carlos had a radical idea about just storing 'properties' for meta-data and leaving them to be defined by the application. Wow! super scary and loose, but it i kind of like it.
hiroshi's class is pretty intense. its been taking up lots of my time. i have been designing a system for adding smarts to ordinary books, by using ISBN numbers and online full text book catalogues. mostly i have been doing a lot of video editing and sketching.
i have been working with ben and angelyn laying out the newest version of the WMBR program guide. also team HVAC-REVAMP has been preparing materials for the bubble project grant.
i have been thinking mostly about children, bread, and sweaters.
i am very impressed with my new canon sd10 camera. i bought it because my camera recently died, and i remember peter cho had this camera, and it was super hot looking. it seems like a good example of the very powerful and very simple device. my friend paul was taking pictures with it this weekend, and he is 2.5 years old.
